hi, anyone have a Clarke IG1000 or IG2200 generator? Wondering what the quality is like. Also for charging batteries, running TV and spot lights is a 1KW enough? Thanks in advance.
Your're asking for trouble I use a Kipor 2000 powers the microwave,bravoska and anything else as required. We found the 1000 would not fire up the cooking equipment, it would however be just fine for charging batteries, tv etc.

Hi I have gone down the belt and braces route I have a built in Telair 2500 lpg genny, 320 watt of Solar panels, and a battery 2 battery 50 amp charger. I also have a 2 kw inverter that I run from the engine battery. 2008 3 litre fiat. Left England for France and spain 13 Dec 2011, have not needed the genny or mains hook up yet. I have 2 110 amp batteries. Have had the genny four years but it has only run 275 hrs from new. I have found that the panels and the B2B Charger are more than capable of meeting all our needs (admittedly this might not be the case in the British Isles. We use the tv for 4/5 most days keep the laptop, Kindle, phones etc topped up through the inverter. so I might sugest you might want to way up the genny before buying one as you might manage around it.
We have managed so well without the genny that when we get our new van in March we are not going to fit.
You have roughly the same set us as us Weldted, although our solar totals 280w. We have B2B and a built in Tec 29 although we are long terming in a northern English winter without hook up so its getting some hammer.
In spring/summer the only time the genny will be fired up is to give it a quick blast.
