I'm a bit of a computer numpty and need help please. I have Office (I hope) on the back-up disks I made when I got my new laptop. What I don't know is how to find it (I have 4 back-up disks) and how to upload it again to the laptop which has come back from repair with the original company minus all my programmes.
Why not dump [Microsoft] Office & go for 'Open Office' . . it does everything MS Office can do plus read & write stuff that can be opened by MS Office - and ITS FREE !!

You will probably be unable to re-install Office from a backup disc set unless you restore the back up in its entirity - and that's assuming that your back-up was a complete mirror image of your original hard drive in the first place.
My preferred option would be to download and install Open Office from here:
You'll find that it does everything that MS Office does and it's free. All your existing office files can be opened, edited and saved. New files can be saved as MS Office format etc. To all intents and purposes you won't be able to tell the difference once you get used to the interface.
PS: You beat me to it there Vic.

Um not that I know of. The only thing I've currenty got is the trial version of Office 2010 but it has no Powerpoint or Excel so is pretty useless. It also lacks all sorts of stuff that I did use regularly.
I don't want to swap to Open Office when I should be able to re-install my own Office Suite.

Have you been back to the manufacturer?
If you put the discs in and have a look through them using explorer (not internet explorer) looking for references of Office. I still think that you should have a key somewhere. It could be stuck on the underside of your laptop along with with your operating system key

Happy Holidays to everyone for 2012
The above is only a personal opinion
what i ask is how did you install ofice in the first place, if you did install it you should have the disc, seperate from the backup discs.
If the shop that so;d you the lappy installed it then ask them to install again, please.

Easier said than done Cabby - I bought direct from Toshiba (my son-in-law works in their call centre) and it came ready installed. Trouble is I can't ask him at the mo as his baby is in hospital and I can't disturb him for this! There is a key on the bottom but it may be for Windows, I'm not sure!
