Can anyone recomend an aerial/booster for use with a laptop in a camper? I've used fon before but find it difficult to get a connection when inside the van.

I use this one:

If you have the stamina read this thread:

Excellent devices out there that can pick up signals from up to 1km away.

When I looked at FON a couple of years ago, it was necessary to become a FON hotspot yourself before you could use other hotspots. In doing so, my PC became smothered in BT and FON blurb, which was almost impossible to remove. I therefore opted out again.

Is that still the case, or as a BT Broadband customer am I free to use Fon hotspots without restriction ?

I have asked BT three times so far, and have not had the courtesy of a reply.

I use FON (not BTFON) which gives access to the same hotspots.

Not had any problems with the "PC becoming smothered".

I have the original Repeat IT antenna from Faculty X made by the swedish military I believe. Its replacement is here. Not officially as powerful as the old one but Grath has both and he doesnt see one as better than the other I think

http://www.faculty-x.net/NET-WL-usb-cpe2512bgn

Good price as well. I paid over Ģ100 for the Repeat IT.

I think Addie (on here) is the expert on these things. I think his record distance is something crazy like 14 KM.

I have managed four miles across water with mine and often a mile or more. The key thing is having line of sight if at all possible. Even a tree in the way makes a huge difference.

I seem to remember there were numerous FON spots in Portugal, around the Porto area - which encouraged me to join up. Tho after I pulled the network extender cord instead of the power cord, I couldn't get it to work again.

Got a 5x1-day pass which is just about to expire.
