A bit controversial but here's my analysis. Many years ago there were people who fell into three classes :
Upper Class - landed gentry put there by people called Norman, who actually were French.
Middle Class - Artisans, known as the Petite Bourgeois because they thought they could speak French.
Working Class - Coal miners and people who worked for a living, some of whom fought wars in France.
This classical structure of society was upset when free market capitalism arrived from America and allowed normal people to become richer than the landed gentry, and democratic socialism arrived and allowed the working class to acquire wealth and status. Shortly afterwards, the Motorhome was invented.
I have noticed that my in-built social prejudices and wasted university education has allowed me to determine the social class of motorhome owners, their names, and the work they do, by the design and make of their vehicle. The results so far :
M/H
Fiat
Semi-retired people from Loughborough, ex-civil servants called Derek and Suzanne
Peugot
Affluent gay men in their 30s from Sussex, called Marcus and Nigel.
Hymer
Scientific officers in a local authority, called Kevin and Mandy.
VW
Social dropouts, no job, into green politics, scraggy dog, called Mosher and Stace.
Self built conversion
Engineers on an industrial estate in Milton Keynes called Chris and the misses.
American RV
Businessmen in their 40s, hanker after countryside, called Andy and Cheri.
Merc
People from Holland with lots of maps called Johan and Arlette.
I have also found instances where anecdotal evidence points to social class, such as the ladies found in Hymers have irritating laughs, blokes who have American RVs always take charge at barbecues, people who drive self built motorhomes enjoy breaking down, as it presents a challenge.
Am I right ?

I drive a Pug (used to have Merc’s ), but neither gay, 30’s – I wish, from Sussex and certainly not called Marcus or Nigel.
Mines a self built
Yes I do have an extensive engineering background , Though my workshop could be classed as industrial, but nothing else matches. Oh… I certainly don’t like breakdowns ,
I too have analysis’s of various people and the vehicles they drive, none of which I’m going to share However I really don’t understand why so many people want to spend so much money on minor modifications, when a little alternative thinking and the use of some ‘good’ tradesmen will save a fortune. My wife is always pestering me to go into business doing MH mods, the odd job now and again for some one else is ok, but on a regular basis would spoil it all for me and ruin all the fun I have with ours.

Well, the Peugeor and the Fiat are the same base vehicle, The old Merc Sprinter was a VW LT Chassis, so in my book that puts the VW as the upmarkets not drop outs (not talking about T2's etc on T4 & T5s
