How do you set one of these up, it is a requirement for many full timers for insurance purposes etc, but not exactly sure what it entails ? is it the same a mailing redirection address from royal mail ?

Good question ,, I have read of relations getting and checking mail, paying bills etc but question arises do you need power of attorney to do this? Pay van insurance etc.
If you got a PO Box would Post Office do a forwarding Service to an agreed destination ? might be worth asking
Sorry I cant be of more help but it is something you need to get sorted quick !!

I haven't got an answer for you, however I do know that to get a PO box via the Royal mail, you still need a puka address.

Perhaps a 'secretary' type service would help as they answer calls and forward mail on your behalf. I think it was a basic charge, plus extras when calls and post was forwarded on.

I hate to say this but a post or search on

as I have seen your question raised there> Sorry but I didn't take any notice of the content.

Power of Attorney was also mentioned. This would not be needed for a third party to pay your bills as you could set up an arrangement for the third part to invoice/charge you when they are about/going to pay a bill of yours. A P of A would be required if someone else was going to start managing your finances etc. as the P of A would give them access to your bank accounts.

just been to check address of motorhome-living, but Steve beat me to it.
I'm pretty sure it featured on MMM site but since I no longer subscribe I can't help there [dodger - do you still have access?]
also suggest you check out Practical Motorhome - I know they did a feature on the insurance aspects, they may be able to help with this.

Cool

A P/O box does not forward mail. You have to collect and are charged for sevice.

C/O. address you need someone that would be kind enough to do this for you. I.E. family, freind, or whatever.

You use that person's address, and when they receive mail for you they send it to Poast Office, or sorting office, the defferance is a poast office, you need to get their permison in advance, sorting office you just have it sent to which sorting office you wish to, your mail holder then sends to one you chose, and you collect it.

However, from a safty point of view, it is better to arrange with sorting office in advance, as your parcel could be whatever. And it is good maners.

By the way, my name is Hoopalong as I do hopalong, I joined today and hope to help anyone if I can.

PS I have used a C/O address for a number of years as you can see in my profile.

Best wishes to all.

Bear in mind a sorting office can't refuse you collecting your mail from them, but a post office can.

Hi there hopalong and welcome to the site.

I think that if me and the missus didn't have a m/home we'd probably have a narowboat, hired one once and loved it.

look forward to your posts.

I would strongly advise anyone wanting a mailing address to use Mailboxes. Thet are part of UPS and have 'branches' all over Europe and the UK. They will forward mail etc.

For insurance purposes etc we have used my mams as a c/o address. The insurance company - Comfort - is aware of this and I have given permission for my mam to open all post. She loves it!! Bit like having a personal assistant.

Sometimes it is necessary for her to pay things or call companies on our behalf .. in this case, we have contacted all the companies involved and advised that it is ok for her to do this as we are indisposed.

Then again, if you have private mail that you don't want anyone seeing then I guess this is not a valid option.

I no longer have anything private, no bills, no house etc so shes free to read all the junk mail she wants Laughing
