Hi
Has anybody had experience, good or bad, with getting insurance for a home conversion motor home? Any recommendations? And what are the minimum requirements for a conversion?
cheers |

Hi Edmund
Never had a problem getting insurance for self built motorhomes (4 Different) depends on size which insurer to approach.
They all have differing requirements, but broadly they like windows (both sides) usually minimum of one bed (6ft sometimes specified) water, sinks tables and storage space some require pictures and others take you word for it.
Give some idea of size intended and I'll spring a few names for you. |

When I did a selfbuild I found that Campton Insurance Brokers were very helpful.

Hi
The van I would be looking for would possibly be an ex-authority van, a mini bus perhaps (but then again too many windows?) or something that has a semi-coachbuilt body. I'm going to the local commercial auctions (I've bought three cars in the past this way) on Wednesday to see whats on offer. Any suggestions what look for, I'd prefer a diesel.
cheers |

Hi Edmund

Get there early, look for out for one thats ex-authority van, or maybe a mini bus or maybe even a something with a coachbuilt body, Size wise I would get one thats just the right size, oh and check that it has Glow plugs?
If I can think of anymore tips I'll let you know |
