Is there any system on the market that can provide in motion internet access as well as satellite TV?

Not simultaneously, but a CAMOS dome could do it in a switchable way when coupled with:

This would be one-way satellite with GPRS backchannel.

Of course you could always do 3G terrestrial internet when mobile, too.

Technically possible

QUESTION: Can I be traveling down the road and be online at the same time?
ANSWER: No. You must be parked. In-Motion 2-Way digital satellite transmission will not be approved for many years to come. But we find that this is not a major problem with many that are seeking Internet Connectivity in a mobile environment.

Unquote.

Hi, on a simialr subject,

What is the cheapest way to get an internet connection when in France or Spain. I normally use my mobile phone through Virgin at 5p/min albeit it is rather slow ? i know about wifi hot-spots but i am worried about using them if i am using my online bank. so i would prefer to stay with the mobile phone, but any ideas of cheap call rates and dialup ISP's in France or Spain

motorcaravan:

I suspect you have a wifi laptop.
Drive into any built up area and you will find an internet connection (at risk of sounding like the person who watches tv without a license!)
There is a cracking connection on lake Lugano in Switzerland!

Although there are internet cafes about.

Thanks LeeUK,

I have found similar connections while traveling around the UK, the main thing i was looking for was the cheapest way to make a connection through my mobile, when i need to contact my bank. As all of the other ways seem to be perfect when picking up emails or surfing the web but don't they have possible security implecations. I could use my normal method with my mobile but it will cost 60p/min+

You can buy a DataStorm and off set LNB (bird on the wire kit, make sure its the British version and not American!) line it all up with Astra 2 and connect a sky box and wow, dual TV and inter connection!

Ok it will on work if MH is in a static state but one dish to do two jobs Smile

You can definitely get a connection and drive if you use a datacard as supplied by T-Mobile for £20 per month unlimited access. Just slide it in your laptop and off you go.

Is there any information available on how may sites have WiFi internet (technical name 802.11A, B or G) available to site users ?

I am told many Marinas seem to be installing WiFi for boat users, this is a good move for those people who need to be in touch.

From a technical perspective its not difficult to set up., but there are some liciencing issues to get sorted.

Dave

For all sorts of information including hotspots in GB and most European countries try poihandler.com.

Information can be downloaded to a laptop or a GPS.

I find this very handy when travelling, I can find fuel, campsites, various supermarkets etc..
