Hi anyone got a really good price for a genuine stick 256 MByte and above or could recommend a good generic.
Sony sticks are v different from the rest. We use standard not duo
Only we are off to the Galapagos/Panama/Costa Rica and Belize soon and will definitely need some more memory and as we are flying and cruising aren't taking a laptop.

www.ebuyer.com are pretty well priced. Sandisk are a decent alternative to Sony.
I'd check with the cruiseline to see if they do a transfer service, I bet they do. |

Thanks two point but what a variation in prices between similar specs.
Yes the cruiseline will probably blow a cd but last time I did that they converted my TIFFs to low res JPEGs

| Hi, i have found Sandisc are that little bit cheaper but just as good as any other brand. but i now use a hard drive storage which enables me to transfer much more and to use it as a back up as well.they are reasonably priced at the moment, also have more application use than just a stick.enjoy your travels. |

I've got a Sony PSP, I use the Sandisk sticks for that as they are way cheaper and are actually better than the Sony ones as the read/write speed is higher.
Don't be tempted with ebay or other smaller suppliers, there is a huge number of fake memory cards/sticks around. They will work OK but not fun if they fail when the card is nearly full of priceless memories(sorry!). |

Thanks again 2point and cabby.
Went to Sony shop and got lowdown on all the various types and speeds etc. Ended up buying some from eBuyer as you recommended, but its as well to be careful they were selling a 1GB obsolete type at its original price which was 3 times more than the newer faster stick was being sold in Sony shop.
Had a bad experience with sandisk in another format so will steer clear until my wounds heal!
Cabby can you go straight from camera to hard disk?

Genuine Sony 2off 512MB £80.28 for the two (includes VAT and postage) and has just arrived 15 hours after ordering it from eBuyer.
Have seen cheaper but my photo Guru has also had expensive failures of memory sticks above 1/2 GB size (not Sony format) and generic so now he recommends stick to known brands. So I did. I'm not going to get to the Galapagos again in a hurry and also will also be visiti | | | | | | | |
