What is the best time to add a post as I seem to get few replies at this time?
Right anyway, it seems to me as though Fiat will have some very stiff (albeit pricey) competition on there hands even with their new or updated SevilleMobil.
A mate of mine is a Merc Van Dealer and he is off to Germany to test drive the all new MB Sprinter in the next few weeks to include a V6 CDi with a rather stonking 184PS. But not the Petrol V6 available in certain Vans, Combis and dropsides with a mere 258PS !
A 3.5t Chassis cab with the 184 engine is around Euros 38,000 rising to 44,000 for a 5t lwb, thats standard rear wheel drive and not even started on the Options List. Seems to be some mention of Extra special single tyre options as opposed to twin rears.

Dodge Sprinter for US Market.
The existing Merc Sprinter production I am told will continue but shifted to MB's Argentina Plant.
Next up it appears some crafty Employee at MB-VW may have been sneaking out some genes from the factory and doing some dodgy genetic modifications deals with FORD as the new transit bears a striking resemblance to the Crafter ! (Or the othe rway round)

Can anyone add a link to the new Iveco or Face lifted Fiat?
a link to a New V10TDi™ Diesel 4Motion™ T5 Transporter Chassis Cab maybe ! That would be interesting, The Milk float for 2006 NOT
I can see the headlines now. "Kent Police Chase Suspected Smugglers in Motorhome for 3 hours" .......Greater Manchester Police later traced the owner to a house where he claimed "I never even knew it had gone off my drive".
My thoughts: Not Interesting Enough
I wish a manufacturer be it UK Or Continental would build something on a Japanese Designed Japanese Built Chassis. A nice Toyota or Mitsy would suit me nicely. I have ran around 90 vehicles in my life, many with the companies I have owned.
The best 3? I had a Toyota Previa that ran like a sewing machine along with 2 Mistsubishi Spacewagons. Between the 3 Japs all I ever needed was a Dizzy cap for the 2nd generation Spacewagon.
As for all the BMW, Citroen VW's Mercs etc be they built in Germany, France, USA, or just designed there and built in Poland. They have cost an absolute fortune and more than anything it's the downtime, hassle and frustration of trying to communicate with the Dealers.
Anyway lets have your thoughts.....

PS Just Remembered recently Had a Mazda RX8 with a dodgy clutch that did not like to reverse. 1 point off the Japanese.

Subaru Impreza AWD rally bred motorhome
Alternatively you could get one of these converted
There were a couple of these built - This one (Ford WRT) was powered by a Ford WRC engine, clocking up 60 in about 7 seconds. Another (Supervan 3) had an F1 engine and was capable of 150+
Wonder what the fuel consumption would be like

Very interesting about the Merc Sprinter, nearly bought one a couple of times but ended up with a VW, didn't like the smarmy service from Mercedes and as for after service...
We did however still buy a Merc car, an A140, like a lot of things it seemed a good idea at the time and there were no Trabant dearlers around this area. After a while we got rid of it and went to buy a Volvo C70, nice convertible. However, under the skin it seemed not very different from a Ford Focus which is half the price.
I missed my true vocation. I should have gone into marketing, these are the real brains of the motor industry. They could sell you a Chrysler as a Merc, a Ford as a Volvo or a Jag. Peugeot are made here and owned by General Motors. Some BMW's are made in the USA and some in South Africa. Who knows what you're buying any more, not that it matters anyway as they're all much of a muchness and different sizes of Lego blocks. Or put another way, it's all the Emporor's New Clothes.
Happy motoring
Monsieur Clee-mong.

Here is a review I found of the new MB Sprinter due out on 18 May.

We were considering a new Benimar based on a MB Sprinter 316 chassis. I wonder what effect the new chassis/engine designs will have and when they will become available in new MHs.

The German Coachbuilders can order them now, so I suggest it will be very soon maybe 6 months before we see something continental.
