I reckon we are on the verge of being able to get broadband internet via our satalite tv system for an acceptable price.

Check out the AVCbroadband link on the hauppauge page. I am going to pop in and see them on tueday 18th April at their base in Herts.

What sort of questions do I need to ask them, what do you all want to know?

Hi

Sorry, I'm not an expert but my understanding of this system is that it's for downloading only and provides no uplink, there is a new satellite system from immarsat called 'bgan' which gives both.

I saw the Bgan site a few weeks ago, I am sure I remember it being quite expensive. With AVC broadband you use the satalite to view and then a sim card to upload. Like you I am not an expert but it seems a lot cheaper

I have registered with Bgan for updates. Cost is bound to come down at some point if it takes off, maybe we can get all 9000 members of MHF to register and do a deal for say 100 sets a time - wonder what price we could get for sets and connections then.
