Does anyone know of a good source for food-grade hose pipe so that I can refill my motorhome from a tap?

Hi

I take a £6.99 ordinary B & Q hose pipe away with me and the van.

Also, I used the water supply at services, the ones used really for topping up other "water levels"

In the past I have filled the drinking water/coffee machine water on coaches with this method and have never known of any problems with taste or anything else. After all, the water heats to about 70 degrees C in your motorhome boiler, or 100 degrees for making tea etc

As far as I know living orgasisms such as bacteria etc will bi killed at about 60 degrees.

Hi

Buy a roll flat hose at any good accessory shop, or online from :

http://www.riverswayleisure.com/

Ordinary garden hose can taint the water.

Hi Jim

Some rather good "extras" for sale on the site you mention. Looks like I will have to do a bit more overtime yet!

hi peter

i bought 2 of the roll flat hoses from riversway. they were a disaster.

when i used them they were like a garden irrigation system. holes sprung up everywhere and there was a strong chemical smell.

riversway refunded the cost. i found them an excellent company to deal with and as a result bought quite a few things from them.

the best hoses i have found are roll flat hoses made by Gardena.

for reasons best known to themselves Gardena will not sell them in the UK so i had to buy them in France at the DIY place next to Auchan,Calais. i think it's a Leroy Merlin store. they are expensive, about £60, but i haven't found better.

eddieo - no restriction on filling the van with water using a hose pipe. You're not watering the garden or washing the car, so OK. See other posts on this.

There's no hose pipe ban in the Portsmouth water Co area - Smile . Since we've been here, there's never been a hose pipe ban (since 1979), whilst over on the other side of the river Arun they have a ban - supplied by Southern water. I looked on the water company's web site last week & their water levels are higher than last year.

BTW most accessory shops sell food grade pipe by the metre. You only need about 5 metres.
