Hi

I have just bought a dish and wanted to make sure that it would work in Scotland and France, area 2 dish seemed to be required which is from 60cm in diameter.
Haven't tried it yet of course but that was based on looking at information on various internet sites.

Hi

Have a look at www.astra2d.com - this may be of some use

Living in Scotland, I have just looked out my window and it looks like a normal sized dish to me!! We are the same land mass as England you know!

Best wishes

Elspeth, its to do with the satellites "footprint" more than being connected to the rest of the country... The post with the astra link should show the footprint. Scotland is near the northern edge of this print, hence the further north you go the weaker the signal and the bigger the dish you need to get a better quality signal. Although for Sky, I think you'll be ok on a normal size dish.

Thanks for that Shane and Sally but I am aware of footprints.

Perhaps I should have been less tongue in cheek but we are in Britain and it is the British Broadcasting Corporation and for once we don't have to pay more than England for something, as the same size satellite dish will do.

Cheers
Elspeth

Elspeth,

Sky subscribers in Scotland are installed with a larger dish at no extra cost. As you are aware of footprints you will understand why this is.

Please consider it as yet another subsidy from England. I can be tongue in cheek, too and give as good as we get.

Our house dishes are slightly bigger up here, as someone said before it is zone 2, although you do occasionally see some smaller ones which I take it are zone 1. For info I have used my little Lidl dish (now replaced with a Kathrien square dish) here and as far north as Braemar and got a signal easily enough. I suppose it depends where you will be staying.
What kind of dish were you thinking on getting?
