we wnt to cornwall for a few days in february (in the warm weather - before winter came back), and were amazed that there's hardly any sites open. Both clubs - nothing west of devizes?. We went to a site on the road down to Mevagissey which we'd picked out of the ccc book, they confirmed open all year with hardstandings, but we got there & nothing available - a few scruffy caravans which seem to be permanent and the rest was grass. we even had a problem turning round without getting sttuck in the mud. After much calling round we found a CL at Indian Queens just off bodmin moor - very friendly couple.
It seems ridiculous that there's all these sites with hundreds of hardstandings not available, the economy of Cornwall needs all the help they can get but the powers that be don't seem to recognise that if the tried to attract motorhomers there out of season there's money to be made? Whenever we go out in the winter season in this area (SE england) it's a job to get on the sites that are open (and more are waking up to the fact). We don't want all singing all dancing clubs & discos, just somehere peaceaful to park up & relax.
Anybody else got a gripe on this?

a nice caravan club cl we have used near truro, on grass but well drained is on page 290 ( bottom left hand side) "hillside farm". open april to nov, with electricity and on bus route into truro. give this a try from next month until nov. but you are right not many open this time of the year.

Yes I was only griping to the CC minehead wardens about it last weekend
where we had to wait for pitch cancellations to stay for the length of time we wanted. I frequently go west out of season, it is the only time to go in my opinion, I can recommend Carnon Downs http://www.chycor.co.uk/carnon-downs/index.htm near Falmouth its open all year.
