Hello
We are so excited!
We have just got our 'new to us' motorhome and are going away in it this weekend. Does anyone have any recommendations within a 60 to 70 mile radius of Edinburgh. We don't want to go to far on the first trip.

Should we book some where or have we left it too late?

We have 2 young kids who love the outdoors so a beach nearby would be ideal.

Can anyone recommend a website or guide for good sites which cater for kids not just in Scotland but the whole of the UK and Europe aswell.

Thanks any ideas would be great.

Viks

Welcome to the site Viks!

We are new to MHing too, same area.

Tantallon Park in North Berwick would be an idela first trip, not far away an access to the excellent beach there. On the other side of North Berwick is the Caravan Club site Yellowcraig.

We've not stayed at either of these places yet but have visited Tantallon on the way past.

The Caravan Club site in Blair Drummond is a good call, again not very far and has a nice playground for the kids. Well away from the main road so very safe and secluded. If you buy your entry to the safari park at reception they will stamp your ticket and you get to visit the park for as many days as you are on site for the price of a single days entry.

We went to Haggerston Castle last weekend, not too far from Edinburgh and loads of stuff for a couple of young kids to do. Beach isn't too far away either.

Not found a specific site for places that cater for kids, tend to find report either on here or on ukcampsites.

I wouldn't think you would have to book but worth doing so.

Hi

I would suggest somewhere with plenty of facilities in case anything goes wrong on the van.

On my first trip the hot water packed up - it was not too bas though as there were hot showers etc on site.

I've just booked Milarrochy Bay at Loch Lomond for Fri and Sat. It's a C&CC site, not sure if they take non members (we're members of both clubs for this year, decide what we're doing next year)

Weather is looking good for Fri/Sat/Sun. Smile

How did you get on at Haggerston Viks?

Had a great time at Loch Lomond, lovely non formal site on the banks. No doubt the sunshine we had (the whole weekend!) made for a rose tinted view.

We cycled into Drymen (6 miles back onlong the lochside road) on the Saturday, much to my wife's discomfort. Nice pub at Balmaha where we stopped for a well earned pint and an ice cream for Charlotte.

Recommend the site, swift check in and helpful staff.
