Hi Ralph

If the GPS antenna has been working OK in the past this post will not apply to you. as when I set mine up it was on mains all OK, then when fired it up from the inverter at the start of holiday no go,

With the USB GPS antenna some of them will work OK with the laptop computer operating on battery power, also OK running the laptop from mains via the charger, but when running the laptop from a low cost inverter via the charger the USB GPS antenna will not work, and shows up as ""NO SIGNAL"" it is OK with the better inverters,

Try operating from the computer, when up & running then plug in the charger from the inverter,

Good luck
Colin R...........

Hi, the only one that I know is suitable is the Pharos iGPS-360 they seem to be around £70, there are some UK suppliers.
Anyone know of any others?
Phil.

As far as I know most USB GPS devices will work with AutoRoute and start from about £25 on eBay

When considering a GPS I'd strongly recommend going for one that uses the Sirf Star III chipset. They track more satellites, fix quickly and hang onto a fix for longer. It's the first I've ever come across that's capable of getting a satellite fix indoors.
Autoroute SHOULD work with any NMEA compliant GPS ie just about all with the possible exception of TomTom and CoPilot specific GPS (they use a subset of the sentences)

Regards
Doug

Doug,

Thanks for that useful information I shall now checkout the spec to see if the GPS contains a Sirf Star III chipset. Smile
