As the windscreen is too far away, this is a pic of what I came up with to mount the unit close enough to hand to allow screen tapping when required.
It consists of a 6mm thick off-cut of polycarbonate with a groove routed in where the map clip grips on, attaching it securely. Another mod, which can't be seen in the pic, was filling the conical mount base with resin, after the soft suction base broke off, and screwing a countersunk self tapper up through the polycarbonate and into the resin.

This looked really interesting as we have a Hymer, only problem is; no map clip thingy.
Will have to put up with it mounted on side window when navigator on-board and voice only when alone.

What could I use to fix poli watsit to dashboard without it looking un-sightly?
