Stayed over at this Haven site on Sat/Sun, quick break and only 40 minutes from where we live.

It's a Haven site so has the usual blend of clubhouse, bars, shop, pool and sports area.

It's on the costal trail that runs from Mussleborough just outside Edinburgh round to North Berwick in East Lothian. Set opposite the beach the site is fairly small, mostly statics with a touring field that backs onto the main road. Was surprised how quiet the road is, hardly any noise, probably the sea breeze whipping the noise away.

We booked a Basic pitch which translates to just a patch of grass, no hard standings and only half the touring pitches have electricity. Didn't use the toliets/showers but they looked ok from the glimpse I got. Water and chemical point is part of the block, no MH point so you either have to bucket your waste or take it home with you. Although it was grass it is very well drained and has a high element of sand.

Entertainment is the Haven brand of bingo, kids and cabaret disco later on, the bar is quite cosy and much less rowdy than the other Haven places we've been to.

Pool is nice with a view of the beach, so you get the benefit of the view without having to dip your toe in the North Sea/Arctic Ocean. Pretty good kids playground too.

As a short break I'd do this one again, it's on a number of bus routes into Edinburgh if you wanted to see the sights.

If you had looked out your window across the Forth I was at Shell Bay.

Sounds exactly the same type of setup, but 1 mile away from the road.

New toilet block with, in addition to normal w.c., 8 individual shower, wash hand basin and wc, totally private cubicles.

Would recommend

I should have said Shell Bay shares the same pool as Seaton Sands but 20 miles apart. A bit cold but I did see nippers in swiming

Cheers for that, probably get over there sometime later this summer. I've been in the sea a few times at North Berwick, cold doesn't even register!

Just off the coast the rigs have warnings that hypothermia will set in in 10 minutes, takes a brave soul to get more than the knees wet.

Nice view across the Forth on Saturday, could just about see the road on Sunday when that mist came in.
