Hi there, just want to add my twopennorth to this. I bought an RV from a UK dealer in 2000 and paid top price. I had trouble for 4 years, fixing this, fixing that. I got to the stage of almost packing it in altogether. I then started with the idea of flying to the USA and buying, exporting/importing to the UK. Instead, I surfed the net and found a suitable replacement. The process was a little fraught with woryy over whether I had paid for a dud or even would I be able to put it on the road. Just to say, everything was not exactly plain sailing, but it was in the end well worth the trouble. The dealer I dealt with, has a special arrangement for shipping and all I had to do was pay the 10% Duty + 17.5% VAT on the whole package, then I could pick up the RV from Southampton. I also found all the information about importing and registering an imported vehicle from Customs and Import and also DVLA. If the vehicle is less than 10 years old, it requires an SVA. If it is over 10 years old, a simple class 4 MOT. Then register it at DVLA and 2 days later we are on the Road. Anyone who wants some help and advice please email me and I will be only too glad to help.

I feel for you, eupho - I know exactly what you had to go through when you made this shocking discovery, for my van was missing a small plastic tappet just underneath the wind-up toilet!
How diverse is this motorhoming habit we all love.

Had a look at his website. Not much on offer at present.
Does he source likely vehicles if I was to send him my requirements?
Also, what are his fees for his services regarding shipping etc?
Really getting into this now (although my wife will advise caution on my enthusiasm as she does the books!!!!)
regards

in answer to carlmt - Tommy can source anything you require. Cost to ship over is a special discounted rate of £1000. Try and get that anywhere else. Good shopping.

John
£1000?? That seems mighty good value. Does that include delivery to US dock, & ro-ro ship costs to UK?
I understand he can source likely RV's if I contact him with my requirements?
Re my post about lack of vehicles on his website - I wasn't trying to be 'funny', it is just that we have seen so many on the net that we have sort of made up our minds as to which one to go for (Pace Arrow or Southwind 1988 - 1993 vintage 30' - 34') and when I looked there were only 3 A class listed.
It would appear that this guy is the one to do buisness with.....I will keep you posted on progress.
regards
Carl
