When we bought our van it had been "valeted" ..hmm who does it as good as youself? Anyhow, the Thetford potty was anything but clean and we tried many concoctions to try and get it sparkling clean.
At last a solution, no pun intented,.. fill with warm water and put 3 scoops of "Vanish Oxi Action" leave to soak overnight, rinse out and hey presto .. clean and smelling fresh. Very Happy

Hi

Is that the same as oxyclean product? And are you sure it doea not harm any of the seals?

Sounds similar but I can't be sure, it's made by the "Vanish" company as an additive for boosting the cleaning power of wash powders.
As for the seals, no signs of damage.

This product is designed for domestic washing machines which have rubber seals so I had no worries trying it. I'm not advocating you use it every time you flush out ..just to remove stuborn stains and smells, perhaps once or twice per season or as in my case to clean a badly neglected cassette.

I observed a French Fellow from Perpignan at the Aire de Service in Dax, cleaning his cassette with soap, water and chlorox. He takes the cassette apart, I did not realize there were so many parts to it. He thoroughly cleans the bowl, seat and cover as well. He does this every time he empties it. His wife referred to him as Mr. Clean. His toilet and cassette are cleaner than anything I own.

As the French eat horses and snails I suspect their loos have to have the extra cleaning. I'm suprised that haven't got to do the shower as well.

Oxi works a treat in the rinse holding tank too, stops all those little black bits appearing when flushing!

'MI5' at the Government's Listening Centre at Caversham, bugged the following conversation. The participants shall remain nameless, to protect the guilty:-

[i:bf9cb5ee23][b:bf9cb5ee23]"15 hundredweight of Oxyclean, Mr Pusser, Sir? Of course, Sir. Delivered on your driveway? Certainly, Sir!"[/b:bf9cb5ee23][/i:bf9cb5ee23]

I shall take my informant's identity with me to the grave.

Barry

Subject: FW: Easy Toilet Cleaning

How To Clean Your Toilet - The Fun Way & not hard on your back
Instructions on how to clean your toilet

1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.

2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the >bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power-wash" and rinse".

6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.

9. Both the loo and the cat will be sparkling clean.

Sincerely, Daves Dog
