Looks like the Caravan Club have got in on the act and are offering camping facilities at the NEC show taking place on 17th-22nd Oct. The C&CC have organised overnighting at the February shows for a cost of £11 per night. The CC charges in October are £20 per night
Even with electricity and evening entertainment (who wants this anyway), is this a rip off or what? For comparison does anyone know what Dusseldorf is charging this August?

Yes we did on the Saturday. Needed the chocs to level up, a bit noisy with the planes taking off, but passable. "Show" was a bit naff, could have done without it. Not worth £20, though!

'morning all,
The C & CC club is offering overnight parking at the Excel show 16 Nov. for £17 per night - no electricity, but evidently fresh water available and black/grey water vidange facilities.
Since VFR/business in London has arisen, I have booked. It is expensive, but happens to be convenient because am near public transport and Canary Wharf. It is fully booked for the Friday/Saturday/Sunday, so I am arriving on Tue 14 Nov. and leaving Fri 17 Nov., which gives me personally Thursday to visit the show, whilst family do their business.
Under normal circumstances would consider it a bit of a rip-off given the prices at Abbey Wood or Crystal Palace, but you sometimes pays for convenience!
Anybody there at the same time pleased to meet up with you.
saluti,
eddied

I think it was only three years ago that I last worked the NEC and I parked free of charge and camped free of charge. Why would I need the Caravan Club to help me do that I wonder?
Perhaps I just got away with it amongst the vans and trucks, but I have done it several times.

At this year's NEC show, we camped in a nearby (noisy) CS on the Saturday night. On arriving at the NEC early on the Sunday, we parked next to a number of MHs who had obviously parked there overnight - about 10, I think, at the back of East car park 1.
We spoke to our 'neighbours', who confirmed they'd camped. They had apparently rung up, and someone had said it was OK.
Anyway, we camped overnight on the Sunday (the two vans), even though the show was officially over. Nobody hassled us, and the security vans cruised round without asking why we were there. See
