rung a couple of insurers today but not many available as its Sunday pick up my van on friday so need to get it sorted........

one problem i have was a 5mph shunt 2 years (in my car) ago its really loading my premiums the highest quote i had was from the "AA" £1601 wot a joke !! they weren't even sure what a motor home was !!!

I have not got hold of Safe guard as yet as they are closed on a sunday ,... fingers crossed i can get a good quote from them.

my own car insurers are the cheapest (direct line) at the moment but the recovery is dodgy ... something to do with the weight ...

I have tried "caravan guard" but they were £200 more than direct line a lot of money for the breakdown cover .......... what do you think is it worth it ?

the moral is don't have a small shunt its cost me !!

one option is to go with my car insurers then move it next year to a specalist insurer ... the best option so far ........ lets hope safe guard come up with the trumps .. incidently caravan guard recommended them ? as they will be using other underwriters and they expect the quote to be cheaper ..

any advice appreciated ... looks like the reduction in the price of the van has just gone on me insurance !!!

ah well............

Hi,

Weve just bought a 32' Damon Daybreak and we have gone with Budget. Quote was £413 + £99 for european recovery. (UK recovery only = £69)

I was told that breakdown was with RAC. No limit on weight or size.

We emailed MCIA leaving a phone no & they rang us back. They were also the cheapest quote we had.

did you know that quite a few insurers actually give MHF "subscribers" discount now,

Most recent addition is Adrian Flux who will give 5-15% off standard premium, just need to tell them your subscription number when contacting them Smile

I assume you have worked your way through the listing of insurance companies here
