I sent an order for an RAC trackstar and the advice was to get a Cobra if you are going to Europe, same cost but the RAC one just does UK the Cobra most or all of the EU as well. The tracker just senses a change in GPS data so far as I can tell and doens have an alarm, I think this is needed to be fitted seperatly.

Id sugest both Tracker and Alarm but make sure the lockers doors are alarmed too.

I tried an excercise on how I would break in to my motorhome and after several atempts and fixing potential entry points am now happier that is OK.

Dave

Hi davebl,

RAC Trackstar brought in a European update to existing systems in 2003
if required.

Thats interesting, I only installed it last year and they didnt tell me that. They recomended a Cobra saying that both devices were the near identical. So I dont know whats going on there.

Is this having read the MHF threads listed by a search on tracker and GPS?

If so, what aspects?

Hello Everyone
Trackers now there is an interesting subject and I should Know I install them for a living!

If you want a proper security system then it has to be a mixture of Alarm and tracking... Not just any tracker Cobra and Trackstar are next to useless when there is a theft OK they can eventually get it back but you need to know the instant your pride and joy is taken!

As for Tracker its well known amongst the thieving fraternity a gadget "Edit by Admin some content removed" sniffs out trackers in an instant fat lot of good if you have just spent the best part of £500 and they can cut it out at will.

Please do your self a favour insist on a product called Samtrac its an alarm and tracker in one it operates anywhere in the world and once installed it detects any movement calling and texting your mobile the instant your baby is tampered with.

To date there have been 25 vehicles fitted with Samtrac stolen and 25 vehicles recovered a 100% recovery rate add to this the ability to ask the vehicle its status or location at any time and the fact that if someone steals the keys and takes the MH it will call you!

The system is Sold Secure Approved and comes with a 24 month guarantee you will not find better, as for the price its not cheap but there is no annual fee or call charges £799 is all you pay plus a sim card

Thanks SteveUTWG

And now known by a lot more people !!!!

I go out looking for stolen vehicles with Tracking devices and there are other ways ( that I wont go into for obvious reasons) that the bad guys use... However I have one on my vehicle

Hello,

Steve,

2-3 Years ago we owned (on Finance)2 very Expensive cars, paid a fortune for Trackers. What made me think about how much we had paid and subscribed for the sevice was this.

We stayed at hotels near ports, took ferries and Eurotunnel trips to Continent yet the motion sensors when parked on Ships never triggered an allert to UK or French authoroties. that the vehicle had been moved

Trev...............?

teemyob,

It depends on the impulse the vehicle gets. My Tracker tracker has been triggered by a ferry ramp going up, which was reasonably fast, by similarly fast new ramps in garages, and by the odd carwash. But nothing else. As it costs quite a bit to get Tracker to check its operation, I reckon the odd dicky car wash or fancy new garage ramp is a bargain for continued peace of mind Smile
