I have said we did not enjoy our visit to the Netherlands on a different thread.......That aside I must congratulate the Drivers in this country.
Most of the motorways are only two lanes but hey it is not like driving on the A1 it is actually quite a pleasant drive, believe it or not 90% of the drivers including lorry drivers went into the nearside lane as soon as they overtook. The lorries never blocked each lane for long, the cars did not hog the outside lane and block drivers wanting to go faster. Mind you they did not say thanks when you flashed them in (Well not most of them). So a big keep it up to the drivers in the Netherlands and could you please come and educate the British drivers that fail to comply.

Happens in every country... I hate the b******ds that don't and appreciate the ones that do Wink

Mind you, if you cut in early (not recommended!) this usually evokes a response Laughing Laughing

Same opinions as me Trish, we will only book a few days at a time so we can move on if we feel the need, unless we have booked as a group.

I know I am crap at golf aren't I Laughing Laughing

Wouldn't it be great though to drive on roads like this every day?

I can never see any lights flashing when I cut in early?...........Only vehicles turning sharply and then chasing after you beeping horns or using a single digit finger.........It is funny how they all agree with me......Number one driver Laughing Laughing

"Mind you they did not say thanks when you flashed them in .. .. .."

Flashing headlights are used to warn others that you are there, not as an invitation to pull in / out or whatever. The use in the UK can be ambiguous, and while we generally mean it as a polite gesture if the manoeuvre goes wrong and there is an accident you will not get any sympathy in law.

Personally I think the Netherlands is great, and Belgium, and would much rather drive there than just about anywhere in the UK. Cities are excluded anywhere, we avoid them like the plague

Cool

I was going to say the same Steve, in many parts of Europe flashing lights is seen as an aggressive act. Wonder what all those lorry drivers were thinking

The good thing about the Netherlands, is that at certaim peak times on major roads trucks are not allowed to overtake other trcuks, what bliss that would be for the A 14, and other major trunk routes.

Thats a great idea Ken and I thought it was my idea. I have often said thaty three things would improve our roads instantly

1) Lorries not allowed to overtake other lorries at peak times
2) Vehicles only in ourter lanes to overtake
3) A minumum speed limit at peak times
