We're planning to go skiing in MH just after Christmas & over New Year, anyone any recommendations on where to go/sites etc? And has anyone ever been to Camping Plan du Fernuy in La Clusaz if so is it walkable to the village?
Thanks in advance

Hi Helen

I know the village but my knowledge is pre motorhoming so I cannot place the location of the campsite ...but the

says that it is 2km from the centre of the village and ski buses run every 30 mins...if you are cross country skiers then I guess you could ski right out of the campsite, other wise it will be a bus to the nearest lift in the morning.

Hello,

Why not try Norway?

Lillehammer springs to mind though, Geilo is a spot popular with Scandinavians. In addition to this there are many small slopes open throughout the country.

Did you know that Norway boasts the only city where you can be on a tram to piste Ski in less than 20 or so minutes! Even at nightfall.

Many alll year sites open, most have a good command of English launguage and very welcoming.

If you have the time, drive through France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark through Sweden. Otherwise might see you on the DFDS Ferry.

Trev

PS you dont say how well you can ski? Norway has more Nursary Slopes too.

We are looking at going 23rd December and coming back the following weekend.

We have thought about Chamonix as it has some good slopes.

We are both intermediate snowboarders and beginner/intermediate skiers

Anyone have any experience of Chamonixgood or bad?

Thanks to you all for the info.

Trev, had not thought about Norway, but just checked out Geilo and it sounds great, only trouble is distance but will check out ferries and costs etc.

Baz, the site you've booked looks tempting too, is it in Austria or Germany? and is it within walking distance of the town?

Afraid we've not been to Chamonix, this will only be our third skiing trip and have only been to Les Deux Alpes and La Grand Bornand.

Well we are off to the small purpose built of La Tania in the 3 Valleys of France Courchevel Meribel etc.

As far as camping goes we plan to use the Aire it only allows 7 MHs max though so get there early!!

We ski here very frequently but this is our first time from the motorhome the car park aire is minutes from the gondola to the top.
