Hi

My TomTom G0910 appears dead. Just six weeks old and when I go to switch on nothing happens.

Has anyone else had this, any clues

I think this should have been posted in the "In Memory of" section Arty.

Very true Pusser, in the last six weeks she has become like an old friend.

As we travel mile upon mile together and whilst the rest of the them are ensconsed in the rear VIP lounge of the Euromob drinking and laughing she is a friendly voice who has never argued and simply tries to lead me in the right direction in life.

Mine went like that. There is a reset hole in the base
just turn it upside down see where the contacts are, you will see a small holepush a paper clip in once & it should switch on, if not try again. It is the official reset, so don't worry, if none of that works well..........................

Have you tried the re-set button ? Tomtom 700 has a tiny dimple in the base, where the unit fixes to the arm. There is an arrow pointing to it and RESET. Press that with the head of a pin ( yes, this is a high tech gadget ) and the unit re-sets and,in our case, started up again. Tomtom 910 might have something a little more advanced however.

She is back.

I had an idea that I had left her on and discharged her batteries but when I plugged her into the cigar lighter she still did not want to play.

As I got the box out this morning ready to take her back to Halfords I saw a mains charger. Once plugged in on she came.

Stew..have you checked that the cigar lighter is "live" ? We have 2 in the cab ( Peugeot Boxer) -cigar lighter is fine and we use it for the Tomtom, the dedicated 12v socket next to it seems to work intermittently - mostly not at all. I use it for charging phones on the move and it is not reliable. The 12v recharger plugs that are used seem to be unreliable and require a lot of fiddling to get them in the right position.

It sounds like you have run the Tomtom flat because the cigar lighter was not charging it.

Just a thought. Glad she is back in action !

Our green light simply shows the thing is switched on. I think there is a setting to show state of charge - a battery symbol like the mobile phone one. There is a feeble "bleep " noise that shows the battery is about to run flat but you only get it once before it does and you can't hear it above the engine noise.
