Sounds as if you may have the answer Pecker, some M/homers drink water from their tanks others use bottled, which do you do? if the former, does it have any taste or smell at all?

Thanks for info

yep tank is now clean, water tastes well like water. now we have to work out how all the water based things in the van work. we partly filled the tank but it seemed to be drawing air. any advice on how to go about getting rid of the air. do you have to fill the tank to the top then run it. it seems that we are getting very little pressure in the loo taps/shower the water is a trickle. could anyone give us advise, we really are so new to this.

Great news indeed! Very Happy

You don't need to fill the tank full but after your experience it won't do any harm to run a couple of tank loads through the system.
Prime system like this.
First turn on one of the hot taps and remember that it has to fill the hot water tank (about 10 or 12 lts ) lots of spurting at the tap until the tank is full and free of air.
Then run each hot tap in turn, shower, sink etc. until they all run without spurting. Do the same for the cold taps.
System should now be free of air unless there is a loose pipe connection before or after the pump.

Best of luck

dont forget that most motor homes have some type of drainage system for both hot and cold for the cold winter months to avoid frozen and cracked pipes...If as you state your water tank drain was open then perhaps your water feed drains have been left open.In my van they are under the sink but evey motor home has different placs...Try follow the pipes and look for any type tap, drain, twist type valve or anything that looks different. Most are quite obviuos when you actually find them.If they are open or even patially open they will draw in air and you will not get a good flow.If they are closed then keep pumping as it can take a good few minutes to get rid of all the air before water comes through.DO NOT turn on the hot water heater ubtil you are happy there is a good flow through as otherwise you will damage the heater unit....HOPE THIS HELPS...

thanks jim our problem was that an outlet for boler had been left open so all the water just drained out from underneath van. we did what you said about the whole system and it seems to work fine.

I sure I would have been one of the first persons to have wasted their money on a new tank if this mishap had happened to me, it just shows what a bit of perseverance and help can do.

This accident has happened to so many people that this remedy has to be remembered for future use
