Hi

If we sold our house before we were ready to leave the country, where would we live in our van in this country and do people really do that through winter. I cant imagine doing it in our weather.

My husband says that he now just reads my thread on the sight when he wants to know what i am thinking so he never has to speak to me again. Doesnt really bode well for full timing does it. And where do i send him in the van when i dont want to talk to him? The LITTLE boys room.

Try Holme Valley caravan park Holmfirth . Its great, all year and cheap. ( and near enough to Chesterfield for you ) We stayed in England last winter near Blackpool and it was wet, cold and miserable but we survived!

We do, just outside Selby and it's wonderful.

You would need a 13-14 tog duvet,a flannette nightie,bedsocks,gloves and a bobble hat ( only joking,of course you won't need gloves ) Laughing

We have lower wattage oil filled radiators and we are plenty warm enough.
We love the snow so have no plan to go abroad for winter,unless "going where the work is" dictates it next year.
What are looking at fulltiming in? Whatever it is you will be ok, some of our fulltiming neighbours are in caravans and i don't think any of them has had frostbite Wink

damondunc......your comment regarding lower wattage oil filled radiators. Could you tell me where i may get one of these. What is the typical power consumption and weight.

Sorry i didn't reply earlier,Stew is right, you can get them anywhere.
We bought ours from Homebase.One is 1200w the other is 1500w ,that one has 2 settings but we only ever use the 1st setting although we can turn the temp dial to full,and we turn it off if we want to use the microwave.They are both fullsize domestic ones,we had a little one( about 800w) but it was not effective enough for our RV.We are on a 16amp hookup on our normal site.
Do you not need to know where you can get bobble hats and bedsocks? Laughing

Pick your brains please mate cos your in the same situation as us, i.e FULTIMING in an RV.
Notice that you use a low watage oil filled radiator. Is it good enough? Do you use any other supplementary heating in such a large coach.
We have a 34 ft Georgieboy Landau single slide.
In the front we have a 2kw fanheater
In the bathroom, a 40w tube greenhouse heater on a thermostat which just keeps the chill off nicely, boy those bathrooms can get cold without!......and when it gets REALLY cold, we have a 500w skiting board heater for the bedroom, those to be honest, it's fairly rare we need to use this.
Generally, we try and keep the inside temp at 60degrees throughout the winter and have managed well for the past 6 years on a 10amp supply.
I've always used fan heaters via an R.C.D because I wouldn't have thought that these convector heaters and oil filled rads could push the heat through such a big coach?

Hi zaskar whats wrong with your built in hot air gas heating? we use an oil filled radiator in our 38' Newmar thermostated at a certain heat and when it drops below that the gas heating cuts in. I thought all RVs would have had that fitted. We are snug as a bug in a rug infact it gets too warm sometimes. P.S we use 47kg propane bottles fitted into the system and find they last quite a while. We do this because the RV is on a permanent site in our garden and dont drive it anywhere, at the moment anyway.
