There are hundreds of people living in motorhomes and caravans in this country - we call them gypsies! Tax and insurance, mot, etc., seem to be no problem once the police know it is your only address - you just get moved on, leaving all your rubbish and mess behind for the local community to clear up. It must be a wonderful life - good luck to you.

Little people with little minds. Didn't take one long to appear. Sad really.
Hey, although I'm Italian, I've grown up in the East End of London on the borders of Essex, and until recently ran a business in Surrey, just half a mile from a GIANT (and very controversial) traveller's site. I saw the aftermath, when the council finally moved them on.
I would never condone such activities in a million years, and do have an appreciation of the difficulties faced by the police and local authorities.
I don't even know whether I'll be a fulltimer for the rest of my life. Just that it's something I've had burning in me for years.
I've paid my fair share of tax (believe me) and I've not had to sign on since I was a youth. I've been lucky.
I've made enough money to support myself, and I'm relishing the opportunity to cut ties with static living and travel while I'm able.
It would just be nice if some people would understand that not everybody has criminal intent but are simply possessed with the same longing for freedom that has inspired human beings for generations.
Had I any bad intent, the last thing I would do is to 'stick my head up' on a forum on the Internet, and use my real name, which is not common!
I shall persevere with my fact-finding mission, and eventually I shall be travelling entirely legally.
Thanks to those of you that have provided me with pointers.
