______________________________________________________________ When confronted by a problem, you can solve it easily by reducing it to the question, "How would the Lone Ranger have handled this?"
Without wishing to advertise, there are several biological products on the market which will break down the organic matter into CO2 and water One to search for is Microclean , which I stock.
It works on any absorbent surface , even tile grout is absorbent, urine soaked concrete is another.
The problem is that the upholstery core(foam etc) will hold the smell if its that bad. Otherwise ita big washdown job. Also works on smelly trainers etc

Mike & Ann
any chance of a link to this stuff as its always good to have a good clean and i am picking up SH Van this Sat so the Mrs will want a scub down before the shake down
If I was you, I wouldn't buy the van. There are plenty more out there. This one would be better off with a smoker who wouldn't notice the smell so much.
We got ours from www.diemer-wohnmobile.de. He sells a lot of ex-rentals which he has just rented out over the summer. All of his vans are in perfect condition because his rental terms are so strict - firing squad at dawn if you bring a van back in less than perfect condition (well, that's for minor offences anyway). So that's good for buyers. He has also got a good workshop for any additions etc and speaks fluent English. Don't put a deposit down using a credit card though or he'll charge you for it (but only after he's taken the money.....).
To get rid of smoke smells in anything, buy the battery operated OUST unit from TESCO for about £6.00 then empty the little glass refill bottle of the OUST stuff, wash it out completely and refill it with BioMagic then leave it running in the van, moving it around for as long as it takes.
Thank you , thank you thank you for all your replies I will me trying al the above ideas out and will let you now the best one when I have purchased and cleaned the van.My wife did not like the one about custard powder though ,Maybe i will try that as the last resort.
Not sure whether this is helpful for a motorhome but it might give you food for thought.
Our son got a Housing Association flat a little over a year ago which had been occupied by an elderly man who was a heavy smoker.
We painted every wall and ceiling and all woodwork. We also had new carpets fitted throughout. (It had already been painted throughout by the Association before our work)
After all this time the flat and in particular the bedroom still stinks of stale tobacco. If it was mine, I couldn't live in it.
If you're a non smoker I doubt the motorhome will ever be clear enough of the tobacco smell for you to use it.
