I use a Grundig 'Elegance'. It will run off mains, inverter or direct from 12 volt.
It is HD ready (FWIW), plays DVD's and has a USB slot so you can view photos etc. It also has built-in Freeview, which works very well.
Cost around £230 from Comet.
Only problem is dark picture when its mounted high in TV cabinet.
However we can watch it from the fixed bed or the awning in summer, and get a splendid picture.
Now to find something worth watching!!

We bought one 18 months ago and it has been excellent. This one has the advantage of built in freeview too.
With our one it came with a transformer down to 12v so I got an extra plug and wired it direct to the motorhome electrics. I can't be certain but I imagine this will be the same. It weighs next to nowt as well.
well everybody y has no one mentioned avtex the pic quality is the best by far . its 12v or mains looks the dogs maybe its 100 pounds dearer than most tellys but its worth it . tude
The viewing angle is very wide if you get the screen angled [up & down] correctly. If I'm sat on the dinette seat and Kato is on the captains, then we can both see it with no problems... nearly 180 degrees.
After a couple of bad purchases (that went back) I took the expensive plunge and bought an Avtex and am pretty well pleased with it. Sometimes the DVD sound goes out of lip sync but the versatility of of the unit makes up for this shortcoming. I particularly like the built in FM transmitter which means you can tune in to a radio station on Freeview then broadcast it on FM to listen to on an MP3 player outside the van. Also my Autotrail has super speakers so I tune in the cab radio and turn down the sound on the Avtex which, like any small TV, has poor speakers. Its hooked up to the 12v system which means no ugly transformer like most other models. All in all a good purchase though pricey.
Having an Oyster fitted next week at Moor Power in Newhaven so watch this space....
