We had been very happy with our first lcd tv ,very good picture and sound, it was a bush model and we had bought it a couple of years ago from aldi , cost about £ 300. Alas we was burgled and that was gone. Bought a replacement from sainsburys , a mogen - but whatever I did I coudnt get a good picture so back it went ( It had in the mean time dropped in price from £170 to £130) . I looked in comet , all the suitable sized ones on display had lousy pictures - the saleman said it was there system at fault, but I am wary now and would like to see a good picture before I buy again. So any reccomendations for a 15" lcd tv , must be 12v ( we use a dc to dc adapter) , not widescreen or with speakers to the sides , so as to fit in available space. dont need freeview or dvd .
Thanks Rob

We use a Logik from Currys which I picked up as a Managers' special for £79.99. Pretty good picture, 12V job.
We had exactly the same in comet. I queried the quality of the pictures, and was told it's because 75 TV's are taking a split feed off one DVD machine. OK says I, I understand that, now please hook up to a TV station so I can see the quality. Can't do that, it's too expensive to set up says spotty youth! Can't buy from you them says I.

Digressing a bit, but are 12V TVs usually not a very good picture?

Not sure about picture quality 12v versus 230 volt. Maybe I'm not too fussy - as long as I can watch the news and see where the ball is in the occasional football match I'm happy!

Remember, when selecting a TV, that some of those sold as 240v are in fact 12v models supplied with a separate PSU in the mains lead to reduce the mains voltage to the required 12v.
These will probably be keener priced than a specific 12v model.

I have the mikomi and am very pleased with it. It operates on 12v through a PSU. It will run off the dc/dc stabiliser although it will require a 4 pin plug for the tv. I decided instead to use it via an inverter.
Argos sell the Mikomi but I bought mine from ebay.

There is no technical reason why a 12V Television has poor quality pictures.
It may be that some equipment is built to a poor standard though and aimed at a budget market. Theres plent of good quality 12V equipment around but im not sure in an MH if 12V is actualy worth the premium, Id rather invest in a small invertor if needed and use a mains LCD Television.
At my workplace I have some 12V profesional TV kit that is built to a very high standard and meets the highest technical standards but its not for motorhome use.
