Hi I am am getting close to placing an order for my first M/H and I would like a few opinions on air con.

A: Is it worth bothering with? (I use it all the time in my car but I am not sure if a M/H gets as hot and stuffy as a car)

B: Is cab air con any good? ( does it make any difference for people traveling in the back, just behind the driver)

C: Am I better off with an air con unit fitted to the roof a 12/240V, but does this have any effect for the driver? It will obviously be of use when parked up.

D: Should I wait and see if I need it in the summer and get a roof version fitted? But I will not be able to get can air con then.

I will be using the M/H mainly in the UK exept for our main hols in the summer when we will be off the France and mabe Spain in the future, but only for a max of 2 weeks a year.

Sorry to ask so many questions. Richard...

I would have it in the cab if buying new and look for a S/H MH with it fitted.
As for having it on the roof i have it fitted and love it. But that can be added any time. but to have it retro fitted in the cab would be a problem.

Hi

I was going to have a AC/DC roof system but cost and weight, and the likelihood of getting an RV in due course talked me out of it.

Cab air con - yes probably useful - but even in the hot July here, the cab stayed cool as it was shaded by the Luton.

Cheap option is a free standin B and Q unit for £150 and see how it goes. A bit clumbersome though.

Thanks for the help so far, we had a Mini last year and we got it without air con to save £600 and in the summer we did regret it. It was horrible when you got stuck in traffic etc. I am not sure how hot it will get in a M/H, I would think it should be a bit cooler than a car?

So far then cab air con seems to be worth having?

Roof air con, is questionable?

I will not b able to afford both. So it is probally down to do you need air con when on site? or am I better off with in cab for when driving?

Richard...

Hi, Richard

Do you have anyone in your travelling party who might need roof aircon? For instance, a dog might suffer in the heat, or anyone with a physical disability.

I think I'd have cab aricon, if only for comfort when driving, and when stuck in traffic jams. Roof aircon can be retrofitted afterwards, if you find you need it at night in sunnier climes. Even if you had both cab and roof, they'd be used at different times, and for different purposes.

Gerald

Out mh was fitted with habitation aircon from new.
We have never used it when away from home.

We had cab aircon fitted after 18 months and have never regretted it.
We use it regularly as against driving with a window open.

Hi

I know the units are not THAT heavy, but would come in about 20 kg. Are you ok with the extra weight a roof unit may bring? Just a thouht...
