Hi Gerald, yes we do have a dog and he was one of the main reasons that we wanted air con. He will probally be lying asleep between the front seats getting the full benefit from cab air con.
Russel, As for the weight, the M/H I have got on my short list all have aprox 600kg pay load, so it should not be a problem.
autostratus, thanks for that, do you find that air con is not required when on site and the roof air con not very good when traveling? I was thinking that if I got roof air con it would double up as traveling can air con as well as on site, but that seems as though its not going to work.
I think that I will get cab air con and then if I need it get roof at a later date.
When we bought Tincan in August we opted to install no accessories other than those that came with the package. Cab a/c was standard and we hardly used it in France in Sept but July or Aug would be hell without. So our advice would be factory a/c in cab and bide your time with habitation, you can always get a cooling draft through the hab end on a summers evening by opening windows and roof vents

Do recomend you buy with Cab Aircon as getting retrofitted is expensive. Will only give minimal benefit to rear seat passengers and only in smaller vans. I would not buy without Cab Aircon.
Habicon I would not bother and should you decide uopon it at a later date then not a problem to retrofit. We have used our van in temps as high as mid 40's and have not needed aircon. In anycase what is camping all about? The great outdoors, not shutting yourself indoors with a fridge unit whirring above your head.

Trevor thanks for that comment. I think you may well be spot on, now I have done a bit of research. I will put can air con on my list of wants/must have's and forget about the fridge on the roof.
