Hello - we picked up our new Sundance 630L yesterday & decided to have a local trip down to Dulverton before going down to the New Forest for New Year. We encountered a few issues & I wondered if these were normal - so, not having any prior knowledege of motorhomes I thought I would ask here. Firstly we experienced quite alot of condensation in both the cab area & in the back of the van - we never had that as caravanners, so I wondered if there was anything we should have been doing. Also, when we ran the taps the pump was extremely noisy - almost a knocking noise - are they supposed to be ? Even with the problems & the gale force winds it was still great - & cant wait to go again. Hope you can help!!
In the winter, if you don't use external screen covers to keep the heat in, you will encounter condensation on the inside of the front screen. The rear of the van must have been cold. Did you leave the heating on a low setting during the night?
The pump can be noisy, but not to the extent that you mention. Do you open the tap fully when operating it?

I think sometimes, the pump can be noisey if there is some air in the system. Great news that despite alot of knocking, you had a great time and presumably worse case scenario is a new pump either under guarantee or out of pocket. Did you get any piccys. New Forest is a lovely area and I think that is where our first trip was in the 80's and in the morning while the mist lay at waist level, a white pony briefly glided past while rabbits looked on but unconcerned. Amazing.
Thanks for your reply - yes the heating was on, but the condensation was there before we even went to bed as when we pulled out the seating the walls were cold & damp, and our children who were in the bed over the cabin also had condensation.
The tap was also open full.
I think it may be a call to the dealers tomorrow!!
on my swift i run the taps when filling the f/water tank with water to remove air from the system i also have a screw type tap on the pump to adjust the pressure
there will be full instructions in the swift manual
also open the gates on the w/tank & the water heater plus the taps at the end of each trip
Thanks for your useful tips - have pulled out the cold water tank plug & opened the valve for the hot water but not opened the taps - so will have another trip upto the van tomorrow to rectify that.
I have had a few caravans before my motorhome and all the pumps have knocked when they run. as for the condensation you have to remember that the cab is a van and will be the coldest place due tot the large window.
Have look my post topic on "How to stop the condensation?" posted on 5th Nov. I got some good advises from other members, sorry not so computer literacy to put a link on for you save you time to search it.
