Why is the "Navigate to" GPS position greyed out on my Tom Tom Go 700?

My new camperstop [MHF Link] Europe 2007 site guide notes the GPS position of all the listings but they are of no use if I cannot input them into the Tom Tom in that format. Is there a Tom Tom that can use them?

Grateful for any info.

Noel.

Is it still greyed out when it has found the current position and the right country map is selected?

Hi

I think that the very latest Tomtom software* allows you to navigate to or input a GPS location but I fear that yours does not allow this type of input. The purpose of the the "Gps Location" button that is greyed out is that it is there for when you wish to add a POI location...on the fly. It is greyed out when choosing where to navigate to because you are actually at the GPS location already so navigating to it would not make any sense. If you click on add POI you should find that it is not greyed out and a new POI will be added at the GPS location....in other words where you are "NOW"

Mike

*version 6...but I use 5 so cannot be sure of this

Nole/Mike Can't swear to this but the the "GPS" issue should have no bearing on whether you have POI's set or not. I have v6 TTG 700 (the updated one) and I can certainly "navigate to" and the "Lat/Long"
Noel- do you have the recent update of the firmware? -When you switch on press bottom rt hand corner of screen- should say version 6.150

This confusion about the use of the "GPS Location" button is difficult to describe in wriiten words. If you were stood next to me it would be easy Rolling Eyes
But you have just confirmed that you can navigate to a Lat/Long location in Version 6 but in version 5 this is not possible . Now this is where the confusion arises because in version 5 there is a button marked "GPS Location" but it can only be used to input your location as a POI ( a custom POI , the position you are at "NOW" in case you wished to return there) at all other times the GPS Location button is greyed out.

So Noel it looks as though an upgrade to Version 6 would allow you to enter all those lat /long locations.

Hi Mike,

Many thanks for that, seems my Tom Tom (ver 5.410) is pretty useless and the camperstop [MHF Link] site guide not much better in giving unusable GPS coordinates!

Mike- I can see what you're getting at-even without standing next to you Laughing Thanks for clarification

Noel: Do you definitely not have the option of navigating to "Latitude/Longitude"? I thought you could on version 5?? If so wouldn't that help in your use of camperstop [MHF Link] 2007(Just sent for it myself)
If not I don't think it costs to update to update to version 6 via the TT site.
Updating the maps of course is a different matter Crying or Very sad
