Hi you can get half uk on a 128 mg memory card, I have 2 of them so get the whole country . This is with the latest software.
The Garmin deluxe street pilot 3 has to be loaded from your computer but the latest touch screen model has a microdrive instead of memory cards so you dont need to download any maps or unlock the software as it comes fully loaded. I hope this is of some use to you.

I was going for the garmin because I thought something which is deadecated to sat nav would work better than a muti use pda, I also liked the way you could use it in any car without any hassle of car kits to change over, from what I have seen and herd from different people the garmin route seems hassle free. Agree with your thinking re garmin routes hassle free.I went for the garmin due to 1) already had Palm Zaire and could not justify spending more money on basically the same tool albeit it with more memory etc. 2) I thought the build quality and robustness of the garmin was very good.Agree that PDA's are excellent before stormy gets any more stormier Smile but as my tag line says there is no truth only various opinions.I'm happy!
