Can anyone give me an update on motorhome parking in Val d'Isere or Tignes as I've heard there have been a few changes recently? TIA, Ruth

I am still struggling to get any further info about the situation in Val and tignes if anyone knows more I'd be grateful for any reply as we leave this evening. I will try contacting the tourist offices but as you know that can sometimes be very misleading.

Hi Drifterman

Well, not good news I'm afraid. I can't find anything anywhere by camping caristes regarding the current situation but probably don't know where to look. It's thanks to Refuel that I've pursued this or we'd have just turned up on all the info I saved from previous years. I have emailed the TI at Val, reply as follows:

"I, unfortunately, have to announce to you that there are no camping-car parking places in our resort. it is indeed possible to park the vehicule in la Daille but that will be only during the day since it is strictly forbidden to stay in a vehicule parked in that parking over-night.
The closest place where one could park a camping-car would be Seez."

and from Tignes:

"We thank you for your email and for the interest you carry to our ski resort. Tignes does not have a surface arranged for the parking of camping-cars. However, you can park your camping-car on the Grande-Motte car-park during the day like any other light vehicle.

You will then have to regain the nearest camping car, located in Séez, at around 28km from Tignes. You can contact them by phone at +33.4.79.41.01.05 or by mail

So they must be clamping down. If we are brave enough to drive up and see whether there's anywhere near enough I'll post it after we return. I'm not driving 28km on those roads every morning!!

If we don't go there at all I'll get my son to nosey around when he goes at the end of January and let you know what he spots. I'm suspecting that we'll head for La Plagne or 3 valleys again.

Ruth

Thanks for that Ruth, doesn't look good for Val or Tignes, please let me know if you find anymore info.
That Grande-Motte carpark is a good size, m/homers were parked in there on our last visit about 2 years ago.But did not check overnight.
Would be disappointed not to get there when being so close at Bourge, might make a early morning trip up there for a day skiing the Face.
Going to Obertauern end of Jan,so looking forward to that, but not taking m/h.
Jeff
