Anybody own a Travelhome based on Ford Transit?

According to my Registration Document and VIN plate, my unloaded weight is 2.07 tonnes, and Gross van weight is 2.570 tonnes. (This fact is also borne out with MMM's full test report which was carried out in the same year as my van is registered, ie 1989). The rear springs are one leaf, and when I had a closer look recently, I discovered that they were completely horizontal, ie, had no "bow" in them. I took loaded van to local weighbridge. By loaded I mean full tank of diesel, 23 galls fresh water, Cassette toilet full of flush water, 1 empty and 1 3/4 full 7kg butane gas, usual food and clothes for two, hosepipes and minimum tools plus maps and half a dozen books, myself (13 stone??) and Lab x collie dog. (The navigator was not about!!). Total weight was 2.7 tonnes. Grossly overweight!!
I have since upgraded rear springs to three leaf ones and now have to go and get registration documents etc changed.

Anybody else had a similar problem?
