Hi and welcome to MHF. I too was a newcomer and found the folk here very helpful. I was very nervous when taking the MH away for the first time and learned a lot on the road. Wherever we went, other motorhomers were very helpful. Enjoy it.

OOOOhhhh Wow!!!! everytime I read postings like this I just get more excited, I have to limit myself to twice a day on here now or I would be brooding and swooning all day.

33 days to go before we pick ours up, staying on a site next door to dealers the first night, their reccomendation so if we have questions we can ask the next day. Then up to Yorkshire to show my mum and sisters what they have been listening for hours about, over the past 3 months.

Then Europe here we come for Easter, so excited, can't wait.

Good luck with it all and congratulations.

Congratulations Tina! I sense your excitement at the prospect of using your motorhome for the first time. Good luck!

Reference the screens and condensation: INTERNAL screens on suckers still have a space between them and the glass windscreen, therefore condensation will still happen.
EXTERNAL screens fit tightly on the outside of the windscreen, preventing the external cold air from touching the warmer glass. We have a proper Silver Screen from Cleckheaton. We have just done Christmas and New Year in Scotland and the condensation is NIL. The m'home was extremely cosy.
In the Summer, in France, the external screens kept the heat out and avoided overheating the windscreen. On our previous m'home, the windscreen started to delaminate!

Only trying to be helpful!
Best Wishes from UncleNorm

Mandy - great idea to stay near the dealer the first night. However, much you listen and understand when they do the hand over, you always forget something that seemed quite simple when the "man" explained it Confused Try everything specially the heating even if it is a very warm night.

We did this and felt quite foolish when we had to ask the simplist of questions - remind me what does that button do etc. However, the good dealers laugh sympathetically and explain it again! This was all despite being fairly experienced MHers.

As my husband does not do instruction manuals and I am about as technical as a cheese sandwich the second lesson from the dealers is invaluable - make the most of it.

Hope it all goes well and you are soon on the road

Sue

we felt just the same! so excited about getting the van and when we picked it up we had to take it straight into storage due to work commitments Rolling Eyes so we had the van and still could not use it. When we did get out in it we were so nervous and worried it almost felt like it would be easier to have stayed at home and not bothered at all. now we have used it many times and we are constantly looking towards the next trip whether its a holiday or a 2 night stay just up the road. Laughing

im sure you will love it and there will be no looking back Very Happy

enjoy

Hi Tina
Congratulations on your new home - we only bought ours just before christmas and asked exactly the same question about screens, but feel that this was an essential item as since buying the Taylor made screens, which came within two days, we have had no condensation at all- so would highly recommend them.
Also we came back last week from Setthorns, which was perfect for our second trip out - just be careful when empting out the waste as the drain cover at the motorhome disposal point looked a little worse for wear!
I cant wait to go out again in two weeks and am looking forward to the Shepton show to stock up on a few more essential items! Smile
Have fun
Sarah
