Something very odd happening to me Every time I log on to my PC and sign in up pops a web page for a Hotel website I viewed a few days ago. Only odd thing about it that I can see is it has a yellow smiley face just before its web address which is:
I don't want anyone to get stuck with it like I am but the above looks harmless apart from the smiley which is now driving me nuts
My PC is quite old and runs on Windows 2000 so probably - like me - a bit slow but has been fine up till recently. By the way the browser is Internet Explorer v6 and ISP is BT Yahoo so when web browsing the screen comes up with 'Tab' top pages and as I said this hotel web page just automatically appears when signing in.
Can anyone suggest how I rid myself of this nuisance??
Thanks for any help.
Maura

It sems that somehow your browser IE6 has set that website as your homepage , maybe you clicked on " make this page my homepage" ... .
To correct it :
1. FIRST go to the page that you would like to be your " home page"
2 then click on tools > Internet options (top , left)
3. In the " general" tab > home page settings click on "Use Current"
Mike
P.S. Mind you if I was going there I would stay

Mauramac, Any chance you could help me out also with a computa problem, got two actually but getting rid of one would be a good help.
Whilst in Saudi Arabia my ISP was an outfit called Zajil. I never use Outlook Express, don't even know if I can, but whenever I try to reply to someone who has contacted me via Outlook , or whenever an Outlook page needs to be contacted my computer will only say that Zajil does not recognize the address.
How can I delete the Zajil ISP, which shouldn't exist on my setup now.
Hope that makes sense to you, thanks for whatever help you can offer,
Norman

Hello Mike
How are you?
Thanks for advice (have yet to look up your link but will do next!)
I have got a home page set up, it is the Yahoo one I normally use but I did change briefly to a BT page and the naughty hotel page crept in around that time. Yahoo page opens up as I sign in and the hotel one is right there behind it as tab 2 so to speak....is any of this making sense?

Hello Pete, nothing wrong with your memory I didn't used to have tabs either but when BT (ISP) upgraded me to virtual Broadband from the BT Anytime contract they suddenly appeared! Took me a while to get used to them. Its a bit like having a filing cabinet on your screen. Main window and then lots of tabs (separate windows) appear as you open other sites/pages whilst browsing.
When I got the e-mail notification of your reply and clicked on the link to MHF it just opens another tab instead or refreshing the original MHF page. As I look at my screen now there are 4 tabs open...the dreaded 'hotel smiley face' tab, 1 yahoo home page tab, and 2 MHF tabs. Annoying at times but sometimes useful. No explanation as to why the change when they appeared either.
By the way, I cannot upgrade to version 7 as I don't have sufficient memory on PC, I tried but it wasn't having any of it so stuck on version 6 for now.

From what you are describing...(you have tabs ) somehow you seem to have changed to Intrnet Explorer 7.
To check this press the F1 key on your keyboard now......... a help window will pop up and if you have IE7 it will say so , if you have IE6 it will just say Internet Explorer .... or click

... this is a link to a safe web page which will do a check on your Browser.
So do this check first then:-
If you do have IE7 then it seems that you have selected an extra home page ..or the hotel site has done it for you. To remove the hotel homepage from your homepages ( IE7 can have multiple homepages) click on the down arrow next to the homepage icon ( a little house) then on "remove" and remove the hotel one.
