Reversing Camera - Installation |

I have recently purchased a colour reversing camera with TFT monitor.
I would welcome advice on wiring installation. There is a positive and negative feed to both the camera and monitor. The monitor has an on off switch whereas the camera does not. The most logical course to me appears to be to coneect each of the positive and negatives together and then ground the earth and then attach the positives to the fused side of the reversing light feed. One problem is that there could be a delay in the camera and monitor "warming up" although as this is a TFT monitor the delay may not be great. The other alternative would be to connect the positive to a live when the ignition is switched on and insert a switch so I can simply switch on the system as the need arises. I would welcome any general advice and in particular, from anyone with experience of operating the system in each of the two modes.
The other consideraton which applies is the position to mount the monitor. The best place appears to be near the rear view mirror. However, I am conscious that wherever placed, it might decrease security as it may be an inducement to break into the cab. I will therefore probably cover it with a rag. What does everyone else do. |

Sorry, can't advise on the wiring - not qualified. But do be careful. One tiny error and you could fry the whole lot. Perhaps draw out a schematic of how you [u:f88bdafe86]think[/u:f88bdafe86] the wiring should go and then ask someone knowledgeable face to face? (Buy something in the local TV Repair shop then ask them?)
Position of the monitor? I intend to replace my (useless) rear view mirror with the monitor. If you don't want yours to be obvious, why not mount it on a friction hinge and leave it flipped up against the headlining when not in use? Just an idea.
