We keep ours on our drive, which we laid to concrete over very compacted gravel a few summers ago. No problems with neighbours complaining here. It takes me a while to get the van on and off the driveway and I know how best to do it, anyone trying to steal it would have fun as some very awkward maneuvering to do, and if they got it wrong and went into the fence there is an 8 foot drop to road level.
The van isn't visible from the road so not apparent if we are home or away. Even when van is gone there are cars there anyway and security lights. We don't always go away together so usually someone at the house.
