I intend to screw brackets to roof, whats the best product to seal the edges, where the brackets/plate are fixed to the roof,or do i just use ordinary silicone sealant???
oh also how do i seal the holes in the roof where the cables come into the van???

If your fitting a maxview crank up, you get the proper waterproof box to go on the roof, in which the cable goes through the roof.
For sealing, use a non drying external mastic... it needs to stay flexible, especially on the roof in the open. If you use normal silicone sealant, it will eventually lose its integrity and come away from the surfaces.
I used Silka sealant when I fitted the Maxview. It is very good stuff. The plate that comes with the dish mounting is very large and it allows you to lay down quite a few concentric layers of sealant. The cable socket has a double sided sponge tape that you further fix with screws. I put sealant on all screws on the plate and the cable gland and added some to the LNB support bracket for good measure.
Sealant through most good caravan dealers about £5 a tube. clear or white - I used white. 1 tube is more than enough.

Sikaflex 512 is the correct sealant/adhesive for the job. Most caravan suppliers stock it for about £5.00 a tube.
No need to screw the Maxview dish or cable entry onto the roof, just use the Sikaflex as instructed - it won't come off.
