Ferry booked to Calais on the Thursday evening, overnight in the docks then off to Reims / Epernay. Do not intend to book any sites as we had most fun last summer when we did not have anywhere booked and just turned up at Aires / sites.
Anyone any suggestions of where we could go / stay for Easter - we have a boat booked back on the Monday afternoon so have all day Fri/Sat and Sun.
Anyone else in that area like to meet up?
Kevin

Hi Kevin, haven't been on here since last year, but these cold dreary days make me think of planning holidays! We are just beginning to consider Champagne region of France and then maybe over into Germany in June. Havent been to that area before and would be very interested in your views. Is it easy enough to visit Reims with 7 metre campervan and what do you think are the 'not to be missed' places around that region? Does anyone have tips on crossing into Germany and a possible itinerary.
Unfortunately, Kevin, as you're going in April, no chance of meeting up! Got great suggestions on going from France into Italy last year from Grizzly. The help available on MHF is fantastic - well worth the £10 subscription, which I must remember to renew!!

site a couple of times now and found it excellent value and handy for the champagne vineyards and Epernay. It's just south of Rheims close to the autoroute.
Thanks all, we are only there for the Easter weekend itself so will not be able to get to the rally.
The Aire at Mareuil-sur-Ay sounds nice - I think we will give that a go.
Metromary - we are also > 7 metres so Reims itself may be a bit difficult parking wise, although I know there is an aire in the city centre alongside the river. May give it a go.
Gaspode - will take your site details along as well. Tempted not to book anywhere, just turn up.
Have been to Reims before by car, great city. Usually though only drive through every year on way down south.

I think you're very wise not to rely on parking in Rheims, we managed to park in the centre once, next to an antique market on a Sunday afternoon, but I'm sure you'll have problems with a 7m van at most times. The Aire is only a short distance from the centre but in a very built up area surrounded by flats. There were some extremely dodgy looking characters esconced there last time we looked by so didn't feel comfortable parking up.
The site at Val de Vesle is used mostly as a transit site by campers going south and short term visitors to Rheims and Epernay, there should be absolutely no problems turning up on spec in April. Very easy to find also, just look out for the 2 large grain silos from the main road.
