I inherited a Maxview Portable Satellite Kit with my motorhome .It appears brand new and comes in a very attractive black logo-ed bag. I am a complete numpty, having never even had a satellite at home. I presume I need some sort of reciever between the dish and the TV. Could someone please explain,in idiot proof language, what I need and how I make it work.
thanks,

Reg.

Hi bikemad all you need to get started is one of the Lidl free to air boxes recently sold here for 30 euros but I'm sure you can pick one up in UK even via ebay, the main advantage being that they are pre set for all the popular channels and satellites , then I expect you have the dish, tripod, cable with connectors, stick the dish on the tripod and have the dish vertical and pointing south, connect both ends with cable ie one end to LNB block on dish the other to in terminal on box, connect TV to box with a scart lead as you prob use indoors then switch on box +TV then use the menu to get the channels listed at 28.2 deg highlight any BBC or ITV station, press button No 1 on the box remote control then info, then go and slowly turn the dish towards the east until you hear the TV squealing (make sure volume is up) you will then have a picture, I have tried to make this a very simple proceedure and it is, once you get the knack you can tune them in within seconds, if the TV is squealing but no picture then you may have hit another satellite maybe Hotbird at 13 deg so you need only go round a little more for the astra's, you will see how it is when you try it, down here this setup would give you about 6 english speaking stations using astra or hotbird so its worth having, any problems PM me or post on here Smile
