A common problem here is the behaviour of modern internet browser programs
These automatically populate specific parts of a website page with information they remember you typing into that box before.
this has the side effect as follows:
you type your password incorrectly into the login password box and try to login
the password isn't recognized and so you try and login again
This time the browser automatically puts whatever you typed in last time into the password box for you and displays it usually as a series of asterix (**************)
you then type your correct password into the password box, but it gets appended to the end of the existing incorrect password
you try and login and password isn't recognized again and the issue continues
The only way out of this is to ALWAYS delete everything in the password box before typing in your password i.e. remove all the ********
