Morning!
A simple question, but rather important! Our 2year old travels in the front in his child seat, as we don't have lap and diagonal belts in the back. Now I know that children can travel in the front here like that but, can he travel this way in France, as they say no child under 10years and under 9 months in a rear facing seat.
Am I right in thinking that the 10 year rule doesn't apply when one use uses a correct seat/cushion?

Homerdog

I have a map of europe and in the front it tells the regulations for each country. For France it says " under 10 not allowed in front seats unless in approved safety seat facing backwards; in rear, if 4 or under, must have, child safety seat ( rear facing if up to 9 months ),if 5 to 10 may use a booster seat with suitable seat belt. "

Hope that helps

Regards

I think there is fast becoming a need to have a choice of bike racks or baby racks on the back. I do have an iopinion on what is allowed in France but as it is an important issue best left to someone who really knows for sure.

Hi,

when using an approved safety seat for the correct age/size/weight, then placing the child in the front is fully legal in France.

Best Regards,
Gerhard

Thanks all! Gerhard, as you are so sure, I'll send any legal fees to you!!
I rather like Pusser's idea of sticking him on the back, don't need a reversing cam then, although putting him on the top in Biggles gear has its atractions sometimes!!!
