Hi,
as many of you know we are fairly laden down with gadgetry aboard MHFactsHQ Van, now my Comfort MH Insurance has a low limit of about £2000-2500ish (Not sure as dont have policy to hand) but there are many exclusions for Computer stuff etc.

I enquired about other insurance and house contents insurance policies would cover for this, however you need to have your name on a deed of ownership or be a tenant to be able to get house contents insurance apparently.

How do people then insure things like laptops etc whilst full timing without a base in the UK that they own etc ?

Hi Dave

We are not full timers but most of our possesions are covered by our all risks part of the insurance, however things like the computer expensive cameras etc should we carry them are not covered. Niether are they covered on the motorhome insurance. We were advised to take out seperate insurance for them but no idea who with so I will be following this thread for any help on this one.

hope you sort it soon

Mornin' Dave, I'm quite handy with computers too. I have an Apple Mac Powerbook. It's virtually impossible to insure these babies even with a base address anywhere. The nearest I got from my insurers was they would insure it in my own home but if I took it out either in the motorhome or outside my home it would not be covered. That is provided it stayed in England (or Guernsey in my case). As far as me taking it to Europe they (insurers) couldn't stop laughing. Gonna have another pop at them though, soon I'll let you know if I get lucky. My motorhome insurers (Saga) won't cover me for the laptop either. Makes you wonder why they make laptops portable when you can't get insurance cover. HTH, Jeffus. Cool
