dont know if this has been posted before but here goes
if IE7 has been downloaded onto your computer and you now experiencing problems you can uninstall it simply by following these steps
go to control panel
go to add/remove programs
scroll down untill you find IE7
click remove
once removed IE6 will be back on your computer like magic as IE7 was just wrote over it
personaly i think IE7 is far too buggy just now so i've gone back to IE6 while its more stable
If you take security into the equation then you are using a barn door with IE6 rather than the eye of a needle with IE7. There are a couple of minor bugs with IE7 i.e. printing webpages and getting tiny text but most of the bugs that people call bugs are due to what has gathered in IE6 before you updated for e.g. internet hooks, addons, bizarre settings etc.
Most people have not cleared out temp files and over a few years this can amount to literally thousands of files, cookies too: some of which are mundane, some of which are security threats and very many tracking cookies.
Also people do not really like changing from something that they are familiar with to something that appears somewhat alien.
Of course it is always down to personal choice but give me IE7 everytime over IE6.

How glad I am you wrote this in, I've done system restores to try and get back 6! Two members told me to do what you have just said, but I obviously was anxious, not as top notch as most on this site. I'm just going to take the plunge as the last straw is the route to my explorer which was an envelope on the right next to printer has now disappeared so I am off to get I6 back, and I agreeeeeeeee with you. Simplier is best. I had to think how Vista is going to go down - best bit is XP will be cheaper. Anyone know where I can buy software {Word,Excel,Access, and Powerpoint} Also publisher would be good.

I would suggest a Student MS Office which you can get for around £80 and another Student one at about £120 which is licensed for 3 PC's. Of course morally you need to be in education but my morals I like to think are on par with Bill Gates so I don't give a damn about the education bit.
Alternative pay out anything up to £400 to be honest.

Hi
We just dumped IE7 from 2 of our machines.....
One of the "minor bugs" is that it was conflicting with Norton and prevented Norton carrying out its scan and slowed down the machines to a snails pace due to the phishing filters built into IE7 and Norton conflicting......
I will wait until Bill has had his "free" beta testing done by others before I go down that route again....
Just out of interest, our network guy says that he has had dozens of hours of work sorting out PC problems, including a server being brought to its knees... and recommended we dumped it. He says that if you remove it and re download it in a couple of days, IE7 will be different to the one you dumped????? Still in the build process by the looks of things..
Anyway, for us it is good old IE6 and other protection up the wazzoo, and we are working just fine.

I have my '6' back even tho I have just noticed its says '7' at the top on blue bar!! I have also dumped Norton and have AVG free virus latest version. I paid for Norton 11.06 at had acknowledgement , then recently they referred to my earlier Norton 2005 and wanted me to renew it! Failing to answer my emails - I think they owe me 8 months subs, so if someone will tell me where I can buy MS student for my grandson I will have no guilt complex in paying, after all we have all paid more than the current price for those addictive things called computers in the past. XP on the way out? wait for the wailing to start on malfunctions.
