Hi all

I’ve just been reading Artona’s post on mobile internet access. Very interesting!

However, most of the people on this forum are not working fulltime from their vans and may not be willing to enter into long term contracts when all they want to do is to keep in touch when they are away on holiday.

Well, this is my attempt at a solution. I have used France as an example as that seems to be the most popular destination.

Purchase the superb ACSI DVD and install it on your computer. You will soon find it easy to use and it gives you the ability to filter your search for campsites by all sorts of parameters one of which is wi-fi access (another is internet access – no doubt from the reception)

Voila! On the map you will see locations of all the wi-fi campsites in France. How much they charge for this I don’t know, but ask me in 3 months time.

Note that this progam gives details of all campsites, not just ACSI ones. The advantage of the ACSI sites is they charge a fixed and reasonable amount during the off season and the subject has been well covered on this site. Anyway you can further refine your search by ACSI sites.

Shown below are the results on a map which, hopefully, you can see. Using the program you can then select and obtain full details of any site required. The same applies to any other country chosen.

N.B. This not a solution for those who require 24 hour access but for most of us, even if we only visit an appropriate site every week, I think it might do the trick particularly if we use Skype a lot as I do.

Hope this is of interest and, no, I don't work for Vicarious Books.

Ian

Hi Ian

I acquired the program ACSI today and will look at that option for our return to the UK in summer.

I received the CD as a manner from heaven, but for those needing to know, where can you buy it?

Russell

Hi Ian,

I too am interested in the subject, but have no need to enter into a mobile phone contract either.

We too will probably use the ACSI and / or Municiple sites, if we don't get on with the Aires.

I might buy one of those Wifi locater thingies.

Jock.
